I just submitted my first Kaggle competition!
To be honest, I didn’t do it all by myself. I followed a great video by Ryan Nolan. It’s a three-hour tutorial that walked me through the entire process, and it was a valuable learning experience for me. The competition was House Prices – Advanced Regression Techniques.
The first hour and a half of the video was all about analyzing and preparing the data, which was an excellent, interesting new experience for me. I learned a lot about exploring data and using different methods for cleaning and preparing it before inputting it into models. Also, I made a few changes to data in my codes in this step, but unfortunately, it made the prediction worse.
The final part of the video was all about using different models to predict prices. Since I’m not yet familiar with many of these models, I found myself feeling a bit lost. However, I pushed through to the end because I knew that, like pieces of a puzzle, this knowledge would come together over time and be useful in the future.
Overall, this was an interesting, helpful step in my journey, and it attracted me more than before.
